Attitude

Attitude is the most important attribute that is checked in an interview process. It is like an umbrella; it overshadows every other attribute or quality that is checked.

An attitude can be defined as a positive or negative evaluation of people, objects, events, activities, ideas, or just about anything in your environment. It is essentially the views of a person, whether positive or negative.
So, why is this so important?

You may be a university topper, the most handsome guy around, the prettiest girl on campus; but if the interviewer notices or discovers that you have an attitude problem, you can be rest assured that you’re not going to be selected.

How do I judge this quality?
· Do you talk more ‘I’ than ‘we’?
· What is your opinion about various issues in the newspapers?
· How do you speak about your friends? On what basis did you select them? It is easy to find out whether   you are with them or just use them.
· Are you in the habit of sharing things; helping out; exchanging confidences.
· Do you play group games or prefer individual sports.
· Are you proud of your achievement or that of your team? What do you speak more about?
· Your attitude and behaviour towards parents, teachers and elder sisters/ brothers.
· Your opinion about someone in a position of authority, say the class rep in college.
· With financial problems at home, have you ever helped out by taking a part- time job?
· Your performance while holding a position of responsibility.

Look out for the next post. We have a senior guest who posts about what he looks for in a candidate.
