Careers in e-Commerce

A recent article in the Times of India claimed “if you are looking at having the hottest job at the coolest workplace and have the passion to do something different and think laterally, e-commerce is the place to be!”

ASSOCHAM, states that India's e-commerce market grew at a staggering 88 per cent in 2013 to $16 billion. This sector now employs 1000s of people to fill the huge number of positions coming up every year. CRISIL claims that an annual growth of 50- 55% is expected and e Commerce is set to grow 10 times in the next 10 years fueled by increasing internet and mobile penetration.

Preparing for your Career

In the previous post we talked about deciding what you want to be. It is always be useful to make a roadmap with job titles - for example, you want to be a brand manager in 3 years and then become head of marketing in 5 years or a lead programmer in 2 years and a software architect in 5 years.

Your roadmap is only indicative and helps you frame the problem so that you have actionable tasks.
